This is going too Far

Watching the news last night, I couldn't help but sit up when the story about the Toronto African Penguins being split up came on the air.

The story unfolds that - since Penguins are an endangered spies, these two Toronto male penguins, are being separated to mate with some females and help revive the penguin population. A noble gesture to be sure.

Apparently there is quite a commotion in Toronto about the pair of "gay" penguins. While the Penguins really are not gay - they have exhibited signs of companionship, grooming and other attributes normally only found in Penguin mates. Penguins, like many other mammals mate for life. Buddy, the older Penguin, had a female mate until she died some years ago and he has several offspring.

According to ABC News, "Buddy, 21, and Pedro, 10, lived in a zoo in Toledo, Ohio, before traveling to Canada to become part of the Toronto Zoo’s first African penguin exhibit in 18 years." http://abcnews.go.com/blogs/technology/2011/11/gay-penguins-to-be-separated-at-toronto-zoo/

But the Gay and Lesbian community is now up in arms over this. They claim that these two Penguins are being separated because they are 'gay' and that the Toronto Zoo hates gays.

... are two news(?) articles published this weekend.

While I really am not homophobic, I more-or-less believe what people want to do behind closed doors should be between them and their maker - no one else - this 'Gay rights' movement is being pushed to the level of insanity here.

I could spout on for pages and pages about the immorality of enforcing human values on animals and assuming they even care or understand them, but I'll simply say this to these gay rights advocates .... "Get a Frigging Life!"

While I'm on the topic of Minority Rights.....

Sure I believe everyone has certain rights, and that we should do our best not to step on the freedoms of other people, sometimes catering to the few has gotten out of hand.

In the two cases of OC Transpo bus drivers last week, I'm taking the side of the singing driver.

Its such a pleasure to see people enjoying their work, and such a laugh when I hear politicians try and find ways to screw it up. Three different politicians were on CFRA radio on Thursday afternoon, and none could give more than a 'wishy washy' answer about whether the singer driving a bus should be allowed to continue or not. The common answer was "we don't want to offend anyone'.

Of course, left wing Liberal Mayor Jim Watson had to endorse the 'lets be boring' motto of Ottawa with these comments: http://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/ottawa/story/2011/11/09/ottawa-singing-bus-driver-silenced.html

Hey, have you heard this old saying: 'You can't please all of the people all of the time." SO WHY ARE YOU TRYING TO?

For those few that complain or don't like his singing, let them get up and ask the bus driver to stop singing until they get off. I'm sure he would oblige them. Why set a hard and fast rule?

Wel Oc Transpo did just that. http://www.ottawacitizen.com/life/Singing+driver+silenced+Transpo/5677689/story.html

The pitiable thing here is this: A bus driver has a hard job. He/she needs to deal with all sorts of stupidity and aggravation on a daily basis. Let the guy/girl get their stress out - and if singing is their way of doing it, and most of the people are entertained or amused, I don't see any harm in it.

As far as the driver who let loose on the passenger ... I'm not happy about his choice of language and the threats were over the top, BUT, (and anyone who has kids will know this), after being asked 30-50 times "are we there yet?" sometimes a little loudness is required! Perhaps some of the people should look at the passenger's actions this night and for previous rides before throwing the driver under the OCT Vehicle. Maybe he just couldn't take anymore of this poorly written 'play' and after asking the child to be quiet several times, let loose. I just wish he had held back on the swearing and threats.

Here's a little treat for your listening pleasure.... If I took a bus, I'd want to be on this one!
